Why I chose my carry caliber

9mm, and yeah I've heard all the arguments..."Stopping power" debates are exhausting. I picked 9mm because I can carry more rounds, control recoil better for faster follow-ups and actually afford to practice. A .45 I shoot twice a year isn't better than a 9mm I shoot every week.

I carry my M&P Shield in 40 because I bought it as a backup to my duty Glock. That is about all of the thought process I gave it.

9mm was what I had so that’s what I carried. Have carried .380, .25, 40 & 45. Been back to 9mm since I bought my Ruger SR9c too many years ago. Liked it so much I bought a duplicate gun. Practice with one and carry the other. 🤗

It mostly depends on how I'm dressed and which CCW I'll take. My P365 XMACRO in 9mm is when I have the most concealment. It's my LCR in .38spl +p if a little less concealment and my LCP Max in .380 if it's slipping into my pocket. I don't live in nor frequent high-risk areas (I know, anything can happen anywhere, but there are probabilities to consider and risk appetite), so I'm comfortable with those choices if the "get out of Dodge" strategy fails.
