Hey everyone, I’m on the hunt for reliable 9mm self-defense ammo. What hollow points do you carry, and what has worked best for you in real-life situations?

No hollow points. I carry Lehigh. They work. No failures due to hollow points becoming clogged with clothing etc. Howeow points won’t feed reliable in some guns. Lehigh feel like ball ammo. Wound cavity with Lehigh is usually more damaging. They work all the time.

Federal HST, Winchester Ranger T series and Speer Gold Dot. I prefer 124gr bullets, but 115 or 147 work too

Have you tried testing a few different hollow points in your own gun to see which feeds and performs best, or are you going off reputation and reviews so far?

NRA Counselor/SC CWP Instructor - Recommend hollow point for several reasons. Federal HST, Hornady Critical Defense, and Speer Gold Dot are excellent choices (although a bit pricey).
You must run several hundred rounds through your concealed carry pistol to ensure performance.
1. Hollow points reduce penetration while delivering greater stopping power. Rule: Always be aware of the target and what behind it - ball ammo will pass through.
2. It’s the same style ammo as the police use if challenged. Originally from NJ, this is important.
