Chronos don’t care about your feelings, they’ll absolutely expose loads you thought were great. Once I started using one, I realized half my “awesome” loads were lying to me.
That’s pretty accurate. A chronograph tends to cut through a lot of guesswork, what groups well isn’t always what’s consistent and velocity spreads can explain a lot you don’t see on paper.
Nothing shows the truth in a load like hard velocity data. It takes the emotion out of it and helps you tune for consistency instead of just chasing tight groups.
