Been mulling over the idea of building my first AR-15 for a bit now. Finally started diving into parts and it's a bit overwhelming to be honest. There are deals out there, but I'm not sure what's worth it and what's just hype.
I'm leaning toward a basic build, probably sticking with 5.56. People keep telling me that's a solid choice for a newbie, but I'm curious if anyone has other suggestions.
Also, are there brands that are a definite no-go? Like ones that tend to have quality issues? I'm trying to avoid making mistakes, but I know there are hidden costs and pitfalls I'm probably not seeing. Should I just get a pre-built one instead?
