As an NRA Counselor and SC CWP Instructor it's important to select an appropriate firearm to protect your home and family. I use the same firearm at my bedside as I carry and practice, practice, practice.
It's also critical to understand the laws in the state (when you may use deadly force, castle doctrine, etc.), as well as train (what you would do if there was an intruder in your home - especially if you have family (children).

Well there's the 9mm on the night stand, and the 12 gauge about 4 feet away. 9 if I think there's an intruder, 12 if I know.

I have a short barrel shotgun in every bed room and den with a handgun backup in each as well. Also have an AR pistol in the master bedroom and den too. There is also a stainless Handgun in the master bathroom mounted over the shower head.

Sig P226 sao legion with suppressor and 147gr gold dots. Heaven forbid if i ever had to use it, i would like for my family and self to be able to hear afterwords. Also have a benelli supernova and sig mpx close by if necessary.
