Hit a wall with my accuracy

I was improving steadily for months but now I've been stuck at the same level for weeks...goups aren't getting tighter and I am getting frustrated. How do you break through when you stop improving?

I guess the big question is "what have you tried?"

personally I'd go back to basics - shoot from a rest to make sure the gun is in proper working order and sights are aligned properly. I'd look at where my misses were going and compare it to diagnostic tools to suggest trigger issues, anticipation, grip problems, etc. There's a bunch of resources online for that. If I haven't switched ammo yet, I'd try different ammo. Also make sure the gun you're shooting is capable of being as accurate as you are attempting. Also, back down to lighter ammo - if you're working with 9mm, switch to that .22lr plinker you have to reinforce some good habits. Also do some more dryfiring.

Anyway, those are the things I would do if I hit a wall.

I agree with SGCARDINAL. It’s often about revisiting the basics. It’s also difficult to identify a problem by yourself. An experienced buddy can often see a problem that you cannot see yourself. Flinching is one of the problems we all face. I will often video a student on my iPhone and play it back in slow motion where the flinch is easily seen. I often here, “I didn’t think I was doing that”.
I would also recommend slowing down, one shot at a time (no multiple trigger pulls while diagnosing) and bring in the target closer.
Dry fire with a laser cartridge is also a recommendation - which should be done regularly.
Good luck!
