Just wondering what everyone thinks about keeping ramen in the prep supplies. It ain't exactly packed with nutrients, but it's cheap, fills you up, and lasts ages. I’ve got a few cases tucked away but not sure how long they hold up past the date. Is there a better way to store them than just in the box? Anyone got tips for making it more useful in a long-term pinch? Seems like they outlast their expiration pretty well!

Prepping is more work than people thing 'But worth it

Have you tried dried beans and rice packed in mylar bags? At least this method keeps it fresh and bugs out unlike just storing it in the grocery store package.

Gopher0 has a handle on prepping.
It takes focus and planning but doesn’t have to be overwhelming.

Considerations include bug-out or bug-in.
Who to plan for - self, spouse, family, children, pets?
What are you planning for - short term (power outage), emergency (weather), catastrophic (tornado/flood/civil unrest)?
I use a weekly plan to slowly add items on sale (BOGO’s), to my inventory focused on storage, nutrition, etc.
I also gather and store items and needs based on 3 levels.
Level 1: 72 hr. need
Level 2: 2 - 3 week need
Level 3: A month+ need

All levels require basics including but not limited to water, food (nutrition), first aid/medical, communication, energy, toiletry, security, & finance.

There’s a ton of good info available including check lists detailing what’s needed at each level.

UPDATE: Wanted to tell you about an app I use to help manage my food pantry.
Pantry Tracker - on iPhone App Store.
It’s free and includes a barcode reader that records scanned food items into database.

Looks like I have a few items to purge!
