I have been shooting Contenders since the late 80's and have shot most calibers standard and wildcat. I have tried all kinds of barrel, frame, and scope combinations. After 40 plus years I have decided on what I think are the perfect combinations (For ME LOL). When I say Finished, I mean NO MORE anything just Shoot and enjoy. Can't wait to sight scope in. Will post more of my toys later if any interest.

List of features:

Weight 6 LBS 11 OZ

TCA Matte Flatside easy open frame made in 1999 (#7 of only 36 made). With new hammer spring and trigger job by me. Light & smooth as silk (just like I like them).
OTT matte 16 Inch full bull barrel chambered in 219 Donalson Wasp.
Georgia Jim laminate grip set featuring Jimbo grip and wide flat target forend mounted with Bullberry hanger bar.
Scope is a Leupold VX-III 8.5-25x50mm LR 30mm tube with side focus and fine duplex reticle. It sits on a BullBerry weaver style base and in Burris signature rings and is capped with Leupold Alumina covers.

May not be Perfect for you but it is VERY close to perfect for me.

Thanks for reading and Safe shooting.

PLEASE READ The Wood Story

To completely explain the importance of this New Wood I will start with a little background. My Dad, God rest his soul (He would have been 97 this year) really enjoyed working with wood. He and several of his friends cut a Huge Black Walnut tree down and hauled it to the saw mill. I was about 12 so that would make it about 55 years ago. Daddy kept a 3X10 8 foot long piece of the center of this tree. His plans were to make a mantel for Mom's living room. Unfortunately He never got around to Her mantel. After several years of trying to decide what I could use it for, I contacted a Friend of mine Mr. Dave Dolin. The rest is history. I explained to him that I knew nothing about this wood but trusted him to be honest and if it was useless at least it would make a good fire.
Just got a package in the mail from a Fine Gentleman and a good Friend. I was like a Child on Christmas Morning. Couldn't wait to open them. Two are Mine, one is for my Son, one is for my Son-In-Law and the final set is for my Grandson. Can't wait to get them finished. The have some very small defects (look PERFECT to Me), but they sure put a smile on my face when I see them. I know Daddy and Mom are looking down and smiling knowing Their mantel will be enjoyed by all of us. I sure do miss them Both.

Here is another Wonderful Fact about the Walnut Tree cut 55 years ago. My oldest Grandson Hunter (Also a Contender Shooter) has a DOUBLE Connection to this tree. He also got a set of grips from the Tree. PaPa Smitty is My Dad and Hunters Paternal Great Grandad. PaPa Jerry is Hunters Maternal Grandad. Now comes the DOUBLE Connection. PaPa Smitty & PaPa Jerry were very good friends in High School and YES, they were both present when the Tree was cut and hauled to the sawmill. What are the ODDS???? So, in addition to grip sets Hunter also has a Black Walnut Table (made by PaPa Jerry) that is His also.

I am sure 65 years ago when the Black Walnut tree Fell PaPa Smitty & PaPa Jerry never dreamed it would bring sooo many Smiles and Tears of joy to Their Kids, Grandkids & Great Grandkids decades Later
We Miss Them ALL soo much!!! But we Smile knowing when we shoot, They are with us.

Safe Shooting and Always Remember what is truly important
Doug
