I'm having difficulty locating reloading components consistently here...primers especially seem scarce at local shops, and powder selection has been limited. I'm wondering if others are experiencing similar challenges or if there are reliable suppliers in the area I haven't discovered yet

Charleston Outdoor sports usually has "Somethings" but getting better. 843-779-3374

It’s a frustrating reality right now, and you’re not alone in seeing those shelves empty, especially for primers. I'm a brand new reloader and honestly a little discouraged by the reports, so what's the best long-term strategy for a beginner in SC? Should I be driving an hour to a big box store, or just biting the bullet and ordering primers online in bulk to split the hazmat with someone? It feels like you need to be a component hunter just to start reloading

Unfortunately, the big national box stores like Cabela's or Academy Sports and the major SC-based suppliers like Palmetto State Armory get big drops, but they sell out fast

Components are freeing up, but not quickly and prices are coming down. I am in Anderson and Sportsman's Warehouse usually has some primers and limited powders.

If we can get this forum up and running. With a solid membership, we can be a great ally to each other.

Safe shooting

Where are you located? I can get plenty of primers. I’m in the Florence area

Is Southland Gunworks still around? They used to have a good selection of components. But the last time I was there was at the beginning of the 21st century.

I’ve had success with www.natchezss.com.
Primers and powder from a number of manufacturers is available.
When I need, I’ll wait until they also offer free Hazmat.

Exercise assumes using range brass.
Mag tech primers are “ON SALE” at $55/1,000 [$0.055 ea.]. Xtreme bullets are at $.04 ea FMJ Plated, powder at $55 per lb. or $0.039 ea. totaling $0.134 ea. or $0.09 - $0.10 less per round than buying new range/practice ammo at $12/box 50.
Note: this example does not include taxes, shipping, or your labor.
Other than enjoyment or being able to adjust bullet weight & powder charge to manage recoil it doesn’t make much sense to reload pistol ammo.
