Gear anxiety for new shooters

Most new shooters think they need the most expensive gear right away. They'll drop $2000 on a rifle setup before they even know if they like shooting...You need to start basic, learn then upgrade. That's the way to go

I've seen newbies worry about how much things cost instead of practicing. You get confident by shooting a lot, not by what your receipt says. Cheap rifles still do a good job of showing you the basics.

Of course, there's the idea of Buy Once, Cry Once and people don't want to drop a few hundred dollars on something they'll need to replace in a few months. And it's not much different than the golfers who chase the latest clubs rather than taking some lessons with a pro, which would improve their game far more.
