Not sure if bedding is worth it on a hunting rifle

It's not a precision competition gun. I'm shooting deer at 200 yards max. Will bedding and accuracy work really matter for hunting??

I'm super new to hunting, so take my input with a large shaker of salt. To me, if I'm not comfortable that I can make an ethical shot, it's on me to do what I can to improve my accuracy to get to that point. I'm working a new Ruger Hawkeye in .308 to get ready for August and deer season. Yes, I can hit an 8" paper plate consistently, but I still don't like the degree of control I currently have. Right now, though, I know it's technique rather than equipment, so I'm focusing on skill improvement. If I felt my rifle was to blame, then yes, I'd be looking at whatever things I could to improve the gun's accuracy.

For a deer rifle you will shoot at 200 yards, good shooting form matters more than tiny groups. If it stays zeroed, I would not worry too much about it.

I bedded one of my rifles, and it made the groups a little tighter but it did not make a difference in the field.

I bedded one of the newer Remington 700. The models where quality was gone at Remington. The triggers were terrible,it took both thumbs to release the safety and would shoot 4 inch MOA. After bedding and a trigger job it would shoot sub MOA with good ammo. The safety was still hard to release and I never really liked that rifle. I sold it and the guy that bought it was happy with it. Everything that worked over Remington did,a bone stock Tikka did better.
